Radio astronomy observatory namely The Spektr-R was sent into the space in July 2011. This is the one and solo space radio telescope of Russia. This radio telescope was not responding to any command from the Earth.
Nikolai Kardashev is a chief in the Astro Space Center and ensured that some communication systems of the Spektr-R satellite had stopped working. On the other hand, this system was transmitting scientific data and confirmed it by the RIA Novosti news agency reports revealed in recent times.
Every member of the specialized team behind the effective functions of this system had repeated tried with an aim to fix the lost connection. However, they have failed in their efforts to get the desired result. The space agency in Russia namely Roskosmos has revealed that the design of this system is expected five-year lifespan. However, this system was beyond this lifespan and performed well during its lifetime.
As the chief of the research team behind the Spektr-R mission, Yuri Kovalev said that the link went down on 11th January morning. However, there is still hope to get back this system in the best working condition. A new Russian-German satellite Spektr-RG is properly scheduled to be launched in 2019.
Russian scientific satellite Spektr-R is also known as the RadioAstron with a 33-feet radio telescope on its board. This satellite was launched to perform research regarding the overall structure as well as dynamics of radio sources beyond and within our galaxy. This telescope forms appropriate interferometric baselines with some of the successful and the largest ground-based radio telescopes.
But, Russia loses the entire communication with the one and only orbiting space telescope. Specialists from the space agency of Russia attempted to fix problematic issues. These things have blocked the complete control of the only orbiting radio telescope of the nation. Nikolai Kardashev said that this orbiting radio telescope is still transmitting some scientific data. This orbiting telescope has not responded to any type of command from the earth as per the RIA Novosti news agency.
Many problems emerged in the function of the service systems associated with this Spektr-R currently make it not possible to tackle the desired task. The best efforts from the State Space Corporation Roscosmos of Russia failed to fix the major problems with the space radio telescope. Every experienced professional involved in the main operational group of the spacecraft control carried out various things to remove existing problems. However, there is no progress towards the proper function of this space radio telescope again.
Expectations on the overall efficiency and applications of the upcoming high-energy astrophysics space observatory are increased in recent times. The eROSITA is the main instrument in this mission.
The Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics has built this instrument in Germany with an objective to successfully conduct the X-ray survey for four years. This survey will be helpful a lot to detect various clusters of galaxies and also active galactic nuclei. The Russian Space Research Institute plays an important role behind the design and development of this spacecraft and instrument.
